Maxwell DISC

Lead people on their terms, not yours.

DISC measures how people actually behave, not who they are. It gives you a shared language for the room... so you can read someone quickly, and meet them the way they need to be met.

What DISC is

A language, not a label.

The Maxwell DISC Method

DISC measures observable behavior, not personality identity. It won't put you in a box or tell you who you are. It gives your team a shared language for how each of you tends to show up.

Behavior is shaped early. By about age eight, most of our patterns are already absorbed. DISC reads two things: your pace, fast or reflective, and your orientation, toward tasks or toward people. Four styles come out of those two axes.

I teach DISC on the licensed Maxwell model, the same behavioral layer under the coaching, the sales work, and the culture work.

The core shift

The Platinum Rule, not the Golden Rule.

Most of us were taught to treat people the way we want to be treated. Good instinct. But it quietly assumes everyone is wired like us... and they aren't.

The Golden Rule

Treat others how you want.

You lead from your own style. The fast, direct leader pushes everyone to move fast. The relational leader wants everyone warm. It works... until it meets someone wired differently.

The Platinum Rule

Treat others how they want.

You read the person in front of you and lead them on their terms. This is flexing. It is not about changing who you are, it is about flexing how you connect.

The four styles

D, I, S, and C.

Two axes, four styles. Nobody is only one. Most of us are a blend, with one or two that lead. Learn to spot them, and you know how to connect.

D

Dominance

Fast + task

Results. Wants the point, the plan, and the win.

Direct and decisive. Give a D the bottom line first, then the detail if they ask. In selling, this is the assertive style.

I

Influence

Fast + people

Connection. Wants energy, recognition, and a story.

Warm and expressive. An I moves on relationship, so lead with the human side before the fine print. In selling, this is the relational style.

S

Steadiness

Reflective + people

Trust. Wants stability, harmony, and time to settle.

Patient and loyal. Do not rush an S. Slow the pace, listen, and make it safe. In selling, this is the consultative style.

C

Conscientiousness

Reflective + task

Accuracy. Wants proof, logic, and room to think.

Precise and careful. Bring a C the data and let the evidence carry it. In selling, this is the analytical style.

How we use it

From a profile to real change.

The assessment is the easy part. The work is learning to flex, to adjust your tone, pace, and content to match the person across from you. Here is where that shows up.

Coaching

We start with self-awareness. Your own profile, your strengths, and the blind spots that come with them, so you lead from a clear read of yourself.

Teams & culture

A shared language for how your people are wired. Fewer misreads, less friction, and the kind of trust that makes hard conversations possible.

Sales

Everyone sells. DISC maps a selling style to each person you sit across from, so you flex your approach and sell with trust, not pressure.
